The latest version of Revit Importer for SketchUp brings several useful improvements for architects, designers and BIM teams working between Revit and SketchUp.

The update makes importing large .rvt files faster and more reliable, helping users move complex projects from Autodesk Revit into SketchUp for Desktop more smoothly. Revit Importer helps preserve important model information during the transition from Revit to SketchUp.

It supports direct import of local .rvt files, converts Revit families into SketchUp components, assigns Tags based on Revit categories, translates Revit levels into SketchUp section planes, and converts Revit materials into SketchUp materials.

It also supports metadata import, geometry optimisation, Revit link conversion, IFC classification and preparation for IFC export.

Compatibility and Availability

Revit Importer supports .rvt files from Revit 2015 to 2026 and works with SketchUp for Desktop 2023 and newer. A Revit licence or Revit installation is not required.

The extension is available as part of SketchUp Studio, which also includes Scan Essentials and V-Ray. It is also available with Pro Advanced Workflows through sales representatives or channel resellers.
